01/04/2019 - A new taskforce for HDWorlds!
Two new members have joined the LIRIS:
  • Axel Paris, a research engineer working on combining implicit surfaces and procedural generation to enhance virtual worlds creation. He has a master degree in computer graphics from the Université Claude Bernard.
  • Oscar Argudo, a postdoctoral researcher. He obtained his PhD at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 2018. His research focuses on natural landscape modeling by combining procedural techniques with real data.

We wish them all the best!

21/03/2019 - Mid-term review of HDWorlds
Jean-Michel Dischler (ICube), Eric Guerin (Liris) and Guillaume Gilet (XSlim) go today to Paris for the mid-term presentation of the project to the ANR. Already two years over... But two years more of exciting research are to come!

15/02/2019 - Publication

Adrien Peytavie (Liris), Basile Sauvage (ICube) and Guillaume Gilet (XSlim) are presenting a talk about procedural modeling for virtual worlds at the meeting's Young Researchers Days.

01/10/2017 - PhD. thesis of Theo Jonchier starts at SIR-XLIM, Limoges
Limoges is proud to welcome a new member to its workforce, Theo Jonchier, whose PhD. research project aims at increasing the realism of procedural textures in virtual synthetic worlds. The generated textures will take into acount the influence of external parameters, such as wind, pollution, weathering... The coupling of these parameters with a procedural creation process will ensure that the final appearance will be physically plausible and realistic while seamlessly incorporated into a virtual world.
Good luck to you, Theo!

07/09/2017 - Publication
A new publication related to our project has just been accepted for a presentation at SIGGRAPH Asia 2017!
Take a look at our publication page.

01/09/2017 - PhD. thesis of Nicolas Lutz starts at IGG-ICube, Strasbourg
After his internship, Nicolas has accepted to pursue the adventure with us! Based on the observation that most of existing procedural models consider single-channel data (such as gray-scale textures or terrain elevation), while realistic scenes may exhibit complex interactions between different types of data, each of which being represented by one or several channels, his work will focus on procedural multi-channel models based on sparse convolution of impulses with a dictionary. The idea is firstly to elaborate models that analyze and reproduce the correlations between the different channels, and secondly to propose algorithms to instantiate these models.
